ENGLISH TASK. LEVEL SECOND (2nd bgu). CAT: PVM-UNO. (11-12/05/2019)
* PRACTICE.
1.- Simple present tense exercise
Make
sentences in the simple present tense.
In the simple
present tense, the verb takes the marker
–s when the subject is a singular noun or pronoun. With
plural subjects, the verb does not take the marker –s.
Compare:
My sister
sings very well. (Here the verb ‘sing’ takes the marker ‘-s’ because the
subject is the singular noun ‘my sister’.)
My sisters
sing very well. (Here the verb ‘sing’ does not take the marker –s because
the subject is a plural noun – my sisters.)EXAMPLES:
1. I usually (go) to school.
2. They (visit) us often.
3. You (play) basketball once a week.
4. Tom (work) every day.
5. He always (tell) us funny stories.
2.- Present Perfect Tense.
To make the positive present perfect
tense, use: 'have' / 'has' +
the past participle
Make the past participle by adding 'ed' to regular verbs (for example, 'play' becomes 'played')
There are a few verbs that change their
spelling when you add 'ed' (for example, 'study' becomes 'studied')
We also have some completely irregular
verbs
EXAMPLES.
I have seen that movie twenty
times.
I
think I have met him once before.
There have been many earthquakes
in California.
People have
traveled to the Moon.
People have not traveled to Mars.
Have you read the
book yet?
Nobody has ever climbed that
mountain.
